Jack Savoretti is poised to release a new studio album, “Europiana,” on June 25th. This collection of original songs, spearheaded by the lead single “Who’s Hurting Who,” evokes the vibrant musical landscape of 1960s and 70s Europe, promising an upbeat and danceable listening experience. The album’s genesis lies in Savoretti’s lockdown experiences, specifically Friday evenings spent sharing music with his children. These shared moments, filled with songs that conjured sun-drenched beaches and clear skies, inspired him to capture that familial joy and nostalgia in his own music. Family is central to “Europiana,” with Savoretti’s wife and children providing backing vocals on three tracks. Recorded at Abbey Road Studios after a period of unforeseen delays, the eleven tracks showcase the artist’s enduring collaboration with his long-time band. During a press conference, Savoretti explained his desire to highlight the often-underappreciated musical richness of Europe, contrasting its genuine musical diversity with the televised spectacle of the Eurovision Song Contest. He reflects on rediscovering the exceptional music of the past half-century and aims not to imitate it, but rather to bring it back into the spotlight with a contemporary twist. This journey into the past incorporates modern sensibilities, enhanced by collaborations with Nile Rodgers and other American and international artists. These pairings excitingly illustrate the cross-cultural exchange between American and European music, a reciprocal influence mirrored in the works of artists like Måneskin and the Neapolitan hip-hop scene. Savoretti explains that the album’s title, “Europiana,” represents the vibrant outcome of this musical collision, offering a powerful sense of freedom. The album tracklist includes: 1. I Remember Us; 2. Secret Life; 3. Who’s Hurting Who; 4. When You’re Lonely; 5. More Than Ever; 6. Too Much History; 7. Dancing in The Living Room; 8. Each and Every Moment; 9. The Way You Said Goodbye; 10. Calling Me Back To You; 11. War of Words. Savoretti will embark on a 2022 European tour, kicking off in Italy, to promote his new album.
