The Net: Team Play – A Rai2 Premiere

The Net is an ambitious, international television project, a collaborative effort between Italy, Austria, and Germany. This multi-part series comprises individual stories, each self-contained yet interconnected by a common thread: the world of football, explored with originality and a unique perspective. Key characters traverse the different narratives, forming a larger, overarching storyline. In Italy, Cross Productions partners with Das Netz GmbH to co-produce one segment of this international release. The Italian chapter, *The Net: Team Play*, alongside the Austrian *The Net: Prometheus* and German *The Net: Promised Land*, offer a subversive look behind the scenes of the football industry. Premiering on Rai2 over three nights beginning December 20th, the series unveils the tumultuous world of professional soccer.
Synopsis: The Toscana Football Club, Florence’s underdog team, achieved a remarkable ascent from the lower leagues to the top division. Now, however, financial ruin and relegation threaten its very existence. Facing bankruptcy, the Tessari family, owners of the struggling club, are forced to sell a significant stake. Their chosen partner? A wealthy and influential Chinese businessman, who sees the acquisition as a strategic move to leverage Florence’s global brand. This decision sparks fierce opposition from Maurizio Corridoni, a powerful figure in Italian football, deeply attached to the club and determined to secure its ownership. Vincenzo Tessari, the president’s inexperienced son, aims to prove his worth by securing a management role, unaware he’s embarking on a perilous battle against Corridoni. His journey will be fraught with corporate scandals, romantic entanglements, and family drama, testing his resolve at every turn.
