Leonardo’s Flight: A Theatrical Journey Through Time

A captivating new musical theater production, inspired by the genius of Leonardo da Vinci, takes flight at Milan’s Teatro della Luna from April 20th to 22nd. Conceived by director Michele Visone, “Leonardo’s Flight” offers a modern perspective on the Renaissance master, blending music, dance, and multimedia elements to engage audiences of all ages. Imagine being personally invited by Leonardo himself on a journey through history. That’s the premise of the show, as Amelia, a university student researching Leonardo’s groundbreaking theories of flight, embarks on a time-traveling adventure. Guided by a vibrant, youthful Leonardo, Amelia is transported to Renaissance Florence, encountering iconic figures like Machiavelli, Botticelli, Verrocchio, and Lorenzo de’ Medici, culminating in a face-to-face encounter with the Mona Lisa. This immersive experience culminates in the realization of Leonardo’s lifelong dream: unlocking the secrets of flight. The production is designed to be both entertaining and educational, particularly for younger audiences, with three dedicated school matinees scheduled for April 18th, 19th, and 20th. To enhance the theatrical experience, the Teatro della Luna’s foyer will feature meticulously handcrafted replicas of Leonardo’s flying machines, providing a pre-show exploration of his inventions. Adding an extra layer of intrigue, world champion street magician Mister David, portraying an eccentric scientist, will captivate audiences with a pre-show filled with magic and surprises. This musical spectacle has received the patronage of HUB Leonardo, a multidisciplinary initiative promoting contemporary engagement with Leonardo da Vinci through creative collaborations. Founded during Expo 2015, HUB Leonardo has contributed to the development of the Fondazione Stelline – Cenacolo Vinciano area, enhancing its historical significance and unique cultural value. This partnership reflects the Fondazione Stelline’s ongoing commitment to showcasing Leonardo’s legacy, making “Leonardo’s Flight” a perfect fit for their programming.
