Roma’s May Day Concert 2024: Noemi and Ermal Meta to Host, BigMama Opens the Show
Noemi and Ermal Meta will emcee the 2024 Rome May Day Concert, a CGIL, CISL, and UIL initiative organized by Company. This year’s event, held for the first time at Rome’s Circus Maximus, features two established artists with extensive Concertone stage experience. Noemi performed in 2012, 2015, 2020, and 2021, while Ermal Meta graced the stage in 2017, 2018, 2020, and 2021. In 2024, they’ll transition from performers to presenters, showcasing contemporary Italian music’s evolving sounds and concerns. Noemi expressed immense joy and honor at hosting this significant musical gathering, recalling her past experiences as both audience member and performer. Ermal Meta echoed her sentiments, emphasizing the excitement and responsibility of this new role, particularly sharing it with Noemi, an artist he deeply admires. Adding to the lineup is BigMama, whose energetic performance at the 2022 Concertone launched her to well-deserved success, and who will kick off the main event. Admission remains free (until capacity is reached), with live broadcasts on Rai 3 and Rai Radio 2, streaming on RaiPlay and Rai Italia, from 3:15 PM to midnight (with a news break from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM). A special pre-show hosted exclusively by BigMama on RaiPlay begins around 1:15 PM. The 2024 event’s theme, “Let’s Listen to the Future #1M2024,” reflects CGIL, CISL, and UIL’s “Building Together a Europe of Peace, Work, and Social Justice” slogan. This year’s concert continues its longstanding commitment to showcasing Italy’s vibrant musical landscape, both present and future. Three finalists from the 1MNEXT competition, designed to uncover promising new talent, will also perform, with one announced as the 1MNEXT 2024 winner during the live broadcast.
